Chitipa United eased past Ekwendeni Hammers 1-0 on Saturday to take top spot in the 2023 TNM Super League as coach Macdonald Mtetemela continued with his unbeaten run at home.
“Everyday, everytime we are looking for points so if we are banging in points I have to be excited” said Mtetemela
Ramadan Mtafu scored from a penalty at Karonga Stadium after 37 minutes of play when Blessings Singini fouled Ken Mulenga in the 18 yard box.
The win means Chitipa United have dislodged FCB Nyasa Big Bullets at the summit of the table. The rockies have 36 points from 19 games while Bullets dropped to second with 34 points from 17 games.
Ekwendeni Hammers Assistant coach Lackson Mauluka whose team has now gone seven games without a win did not hide his disappointment with the result.
“I am disappointed as we came here to win the game, after conceding that goal we lost confidence that’s why we failed to equalize or even win the match” said Mauluka
