He lost the position to Sameer Suleman at the party’s national elective conference held over the weekend.

Chipungu’s tenure began in 2013, when he contested and won the position, leading the party through triumphant campaigns in 2014 and 2019.

He credited his growth and learning to the guidance of DPP president Peter Mutharika and others.

Chipungu expressed his deepest gratitude to the party president for allowing him to develop his talents in politics.

He also thanked party delegates, volunteers, supporters, and well-wishers for their tireless efforts in upholding the party’s values and ideologies.

“I came into politics as a boy, but I leave as a man,” Chipungu reflected, acknowledging the invaluable experience he gained during his decade-long tenure.

Chipungu assured Suleman of his full support and cooperation during the handover process, emphasizing his continued commitment to the party’s cause.

He ended with a rallying cry, “Kwa bwana wabwino, sitisiya ntchito! The Remnants Shall Return.”
