Chipiku League week 22: 15 goals and 3 talking points
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

By Erik Chiputula:

Seven games were played over the weekend in the K15.5 million Central Region Chipiku Premier Division.

The week 22 action produced 15 goals. There were five wins and a draw recorded while Mchinji Strikers were awarded a victory after Wimbe United failed to show up.

The Atlas takes a look at some talking points from the weekend’s action:

GREEN RANGERS END AIRBORNE 11 GAMES UNBEATEN RUN

Green Rangers ended Airborne Rangers’ 11-game unbeaten streak after beating the Chipiku Premier Division group C leaders 1-0 on Sunday.

Despite the loss, Airborne still leads their group with 13 points over second placed Support Battalion who moved second after a win at Ngolowindo on Sunday.

Airborne Rangers have so far played 13 games just like Support Battalion.

NGWANJE MOVE TOP OF GROUP A

Ngwanje FC moved top of the Chipiku Premier Division group A after their 3-0 thumping of Kasungu Police on Saturday.

A brace from Lameck Mughogho and a goal from Sergio Nyirenda ensured Ngwanje FC away victory and maximum points.

The victory has lifted them to the top of their group with 23 points from 14 games while their closest rivals Extreme FC who have a game in hand dropped to second with their 22 points after playing 13 times.

WIMBE DONATES TO MCHINJI STRIKERS

Mchinji Strikers were awarded three points and two goals on Saturday after Wimbe United failed to travel to Mchinji and honor their fixture.

It was strange to see group C pacesetters failing to fulfill their fixture and blow away an opportunity to go second on log table.

The development means Wimbe have dropped down to fifth from third while Mchinji Strikers climbed up to fourth from last weeks fifth position.
