The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Vice President, Saulos Chilima.
Appearing at the Senior Resident Magistrate Court in Lilongwe on Friday, Chilima was charged with Six counts bordering on Corrupt practices by public Officer, advantage for using influence in regard to contracts and failing to make a full report to officers of the Bureau.
He is being accused of Corruptly receiving US$280, 000 from Zunneth Sattar and US$19 million for assisting Sattar’s company to get a contract from Malawi Defense Force and Malawi Police Service.
Meanwhile, his lawyer, George Mtchuka Mwale has applied for bail describing his client as innocent until proven otherwise.
ACB wants the matter to be committed to the Financial Crimes Court.
