Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) President, Enoch Chihana and his wife, Tadala Chihana, have offered to adopt any parentless child whose parents lost their lives due to cyclone Freddy.

The two made the revelation to the media at their home in Lilongwe on Monday.

Speaking to the media, the AFORD President said together with his sweet wife, they made the decision after he visited number of cyclone Freddy victims in camps.

“I was in the south over the weekend together with my party officials where we donated assorted items. And I saw the environment the victims are in. It is not unwanted environment to children who have no parents,” he explained.

The AFORD leader further said “I then explained the whole development to my wife who was also shocked. My wife then asked me if there can be a chance to adopt one child from any camp to which I accepted.”

In her remarks, AFORD First Lady, Tadala Chihana said as a mother, she can’t allow such children to suffer especially if there is a chance to raise them properly.

According to her, she can’t eat properly while knowing that a certain child in the camps is almost traumatized for being parentless due to cyclone Freddy effect.

“Even the Bible tells us a story about a good Samaritan. I know how it feels to have no parents and I can’t just watch the whole move without doing something,” she narrated.

The two have since appealed to authorities and anyone with the related news to tip them.

They have further asked other well wishers to join them in the processes saying “we believe that they are number of such children in the camps.”

Authorities are yet to issue a comment on the matter.
