Malawi Congress Party (MCP) president has slammed candidates who were involved in bribing delegates during campaign ahead of the ongoing convention.
Chakwera was speaking during the opening ceremony of MCP convention, currently underway at BICC in Lilongwe.
“it’s unfortunate that some of you were bribing delegates for them to give you votes, let me remind you that corruption is a serious offence”
“As the leader, I regard that as unacceptable because winning such people won’t be helpful to the party” said Chakwera
He further assured delegates of maximum security during the voting process.
Meanwhile Chakwera has distanced himself to the rumors suggesting that there are some candidates of his choice.
However, he preached unity within Party members during the three days of convention.
Reports shows that delegates have spent a whooping K4 billion during the campaign.
