President Lazarus Chakwera says he is fired up to make sure development is all over the country.
He was responding to pleas by Senior Chief Dambe and Malawi Congress Party (MCP’s) shadow member of parliament for Mchinji North East Anthony Masamba at Kapiri Trading Centre in Mchinji where the president is on a whistle stop tour.
The two asked Chakwera to consider completing Kapiri to Mkanda road, provide portable water at Mkanda and Chipumi Trading Centres, and also upgrade Chipumi Health Centre as the other reliable health facility is a mission hospital, apart from providing electricity in secondary schools.
Chakwera said: “I want development everywhere and all these things that you have asked for are already in our plans.”
The MCP candidate in the September 16, 2025 elections also said plans to make the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) a bank will benefit a lot of people who will get loan packages that can make them millionaires.
Making his remarks Masamba hailed the good working relationship in the constituency saying even though the outgoing MP Esther Majaza lost in the party’s primary elections she chose not to contest as an independent MP.
“I am thankful to Majaza for the spirit she showed to not contest and support me. These are the kind of people that the party has to keep,” said Masamba.
Majaza was also present at Kapiri Trading Centre when Chakwera stopped at Kapiri.
