The Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) which is a grouping of Catholic Bishops has expressed sadness with the death of convicted Reverend Father Thomas Muhosha of the Zomba Diocese.

Until his death on Tuesday July 19 Muhosha was serving a 30 year custodial sentence following his conviction in a case involving an albino boy Macdonald Masambuka who was murdered in Machinga district.

In a statement released by ECM, the grouping says it is saddened with Reverend Father Muhosha’s death.

“The Catholic secretariate of ECM regrets to announce the death of Reverend Father Thomas Muhosha of Diocese of Zomba.

Reverend Father Muhosha passed on today at Zomba Central Hospital where he was receiving treatment. Reverend Father Muhosha was not in full communion with the church was he was serving a jail term following his conviction in a case involving the murder of a person with albinism.
The Catholic church deeply regrets his death,” reads ECM’s statement.

Last month the Blantyre High court sentenced Muhosha alongside other 9 accomplices to various jail terms following their conviction the murder case of a person with albinism Macdonald Masambuka.
