As the Catholic Church in Malawi prepares to commemorate the 59th World Day of Social Communications on June 1, 2025, the Malawi Conference of Catholic Bishops (MCCB) has issued a call to action for the communication and research sector.
The MCCB, in collaboration with the Catholic Social Communication and Research Commission, has reached out to stakeholders, including the Association of Catholic Journalists in Malawi.
In a shared message, Pope Francis urges journalists and communicators to be bearers of hope, emphasizing the importance of gentle and compassionate communication that fosters openness, friendship, and understanding.
The Pope’s message highlights the need for effective communication that involves listening, empathy, and concern for others.
“Share with gentleness the hope that is in your hearts,” the Pope’s message reads. “I dream of a communication capable of making us fellow travelers, walking alongside our brothers and sisters and encouraging them to hope in these troubled times.”
The Communications Sunday event will take place on June 1, 2025, at St. Paul’s Parish, Catholic Diocese of Mzuzu, under the theme “Share with gentleness the hope that is in your heart.”
The MCCB’s call to action encourages communicators researchers to adopt a gentle and compassionate approach in their work, promoting hope and understanding in a world marked by challenges and uncertainties.
