Police in Blantyre on Friday arrested businessman Abdul Hameed Kasmany for refusing to pay for goods he obtained from Team Mettalic Building Materials Trading Coompany.
According to an arresting warrant which we have seen, Kasmany owes the company $101 455, which he is failing to to pay.
“The Complainant, therefore, believes from reasonable cause that the Accused has committed the offence of Fraud other than False Pretence contrary to section 319A (d) of the Penal Code in that: 5.1.
“The Accused obtained said goods from the Complainant by deceit, intending not to fully pay for the same, and the Accused, by such deceit, has caused pecuniary detriment to the Complainant as the Complainant has lost the goods, outstanding payment money, its use and profits.
“I, therefore, do complain to this Honorable Court, for purposes of instituting proceedings against the Accused, and state that there is reasonable cause to believe that the Accused has committed the offence of Fraud other than False Pretence contrary to section 319A (d) of the Penal Code,” reads part of the complaint.
According to the warrant, Kasmany is expected to appear before the Midima Court on next week.
