The celebrated Black Missionaries, will join the Lilongwe Maseko Ngoni Chapter in the quest to raise funds for Umhlangano Wa Maseko Ngoni annual event.
The Band Leader, Anjiru Robert Fumulani, confirmed with reporter that they are set to shake the capital city in support of the Ngoni cultural heritage.
According to the Chairperson for Lilongwe Maseko Ngoni, Imp Andrew Kamlopa Chisale, the fundraising music show will be held at Glalle Open Gardens, located opposite Bingu National Stadium.
“There is a need for us, as subjects of the Maseko Ngoni clan to be united and ensure that resources for this great day are available. We will need food, accommodation, transport among other key areas to be highlighted now.
“The cultural event attracts delegates from within and the international community, namely South Africa, Eswatin, Mozambique, Zambia and Tanzania where we originated from, this rings a bell for thorough preparations, hence the fundraising music show,” explains Imp Kamlopa.
This year’s Maseko Ngoni cultural event will be held from 31st August to 2nd September where the celebrations will reach its climax.
“As Maseko clan of the Lilongwe Chapter, we are under obligation to ensure all is in place.
“The guest of honour for this fundraising music show is ‘Ingwenyama, Inkosi Ya Makhosi Gomani the 5th. This clearly vindicates us how significant this event is for all Maseko Ngonis based in Lilongwe, it is our expectation that the Maseko fraternity will avail themselves to support the event and cover the Gumede, (last authority of the Maseko Kingdom), added the Lilongwe Chairperson.
The annual celebrations which are held at Gongolo grounds at Mkolimbo Village, Inkosi Kwataine in Ntcheu will be celebrated under the theme ‘there is Power in Unity’.
“This year’s Umhlangano Wa Maseko Ngoni cultural event has its budget pegged at K70 million,” says Chairperson for the Maseko Ngoni Cultural Heritag, Inkosi Makwangwala.
