Bishop William Mandhlopa of Family of God International Church has built and handed over a house to an elderly person, Apostle George Phiri, in Area 44, Lilongwe.
Speaking after handing over the house to Apostle Phiri, Mandhlopa revealed that the project, which started in 2023, has cost his family K8 million.
Mandhlopa expressed his happiness for contributing to the transformation of the lives of the less privileged.
“I knew Apostle Phiri when he was my senior pastor at Holy Cross Pentecost Church. A few years ago he was transferred from Monkey Bay to Lilongwe due to illness and he couldn’t go back where he was working. So, when we found out he was unable to pay rentals, we decided to build this house for his family,” he said.
Mandhlopa has also encouraged Christians to express their love to the less privileged people by sharing with them the little they are blessed with.
“I want to encourage pastors, individuals and organisations to help the poor as quoted in the bible that ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’. This can as well help the development of the nation,” he said.
Mandlhopa has further encouraged Christians to become being self-reliant through entrepreneurship.
On his part, Apostle Phiri, who is now working under Christian Pentecost Church, was grateful to Bishop Mandhlopa’s family for remembering his family and asked them to extend similar assistance to others in need.
“We thank Bishop Mandhlopa for building us this house, we were finding it difficult to pay rentals but God has answered our prayers through this man of God,” Apostle Phiri said.
Group Village Headman Hirario of the area has commended the bishop, saying the house has contributed to the development and beautification of the area.
