On Wednesday, Bishop Mackenzie International School donated one Exide battery valued at K285, 000 to Lilongwe Police Station.
Presenting the donation, the school’s Procurement Manager, Thom Mtambalika, said the school felt duty-bound to come to the rescue of the station following a request on the same.
Said Mtambalika: ” We do our business in the community where the station’s safety and security services provide a conducive environment for us to operate.
“We always appreciate the station’s services, this is why we saw the need to quickly respond in this way”.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the officer in-charge for Lilongwe Police, Superintendent Elisha Bophani expressed gratitude for the gesture.
Bophani who is the station officer for Lilongwe Police invited other organizations and companies to emulate the gesture shown by Bishop Mackenzie, saying the business community has an important role to play in assisting their police to effectively serve them better.
The donation by Bishop Mackenzie International School came following a request made by the police station which expressed challenges in car batteries for their fleet of vehicles which most of them are running on non-functioning batteries.
