The organisers of Maso Awards have said that they are geared to make this year’s event memorable compared to the past years.
In an interview with The Atlas Malawi, Public Relations Officer for the event, Lauryn Msatimo, said this year they are bringing to improve the taste of the annual event.
“This year’s event will be so huge as there are more new things added to it. We have introduced a theme for dress code and a red-carpet entrance which will see people attending the event make stylish entrance while cladded in their high-end creative fashion designs. We have also added categories for female nominations and this will see more female nominees on the list this year compared to other years we have conducted the event”.
Msatimo added that they have also introduced other more new categories like best RnB artist, best Afro-jazz song and best social media content creator to make sure that many artists almost from all genres appear on the nominations list.
Maso Awards is an annual event established by Maso Enterprise in 2019 whose aim is to support the growth of art industry in Malawi by creating a platform where artists are recognised and celebrated for their achievements.
Nominations in the first phase for this year’s event have already started pouring in and expected to close by 7 October. The artists are free to nominate themselves through Maso website. The event is scheduled to take place on 25 November this year at BICC in Lilongwe.
