All is set for the 2025 General Election Countdown: MISA Malawi fundraising Fun Run, slated for tomorrow in Lilongwe.

In a statement released on Friday, MISA Malawi Chairperson Golden Matonga said preparations are in full swing for the highly anticipated Fun Run.

“This event marks a critical milestone as we kick off a 12-month countdown to the Malawi General Election scheduled for September 16, 2025,” he said

Under the theme “Support Media Freedom: Claim Your Right to Free Speech and Make the 2025 Elections Free, Fair, and Citizen-Centred”, the Fun Run aims to raise K30 million to support the completion of the MISA Malawi Training Centre at Mtolankhani House in Lilongwe.

“The Fun Run welcomes participants from all walks of life, including politicians, journalists, communications professionals, electoral stakeholders, and ordinary citizens,” said Matonga

The route will take runners from Game Complex to Gateway Mall, passing through the Lilongwe Water Board and Likuni Round About.

He said participants are encouraged to share their reasons for supporting media freedom and free expression, along with the amount they are contributing, which will be featured in a poster circulated across MISA Malawi’s social media platforms.

Contributions can be made to the following account:

Account Name: NAMISA FUNDRAISING

Account Number: 1004071103

Bank: National Bank, Lilongwe Service Centre

“Join us in promoting journalism safety during elections and claiming your right to free speech by participating in the MISA Malawi Fundraising Fun Run,” Matonga said
