Speaking after the rewards presentation ceremony in Lilongwe, Airtel Malawi marketing director Thokozani Sande said the campaign is going on well as it is playing a part in the development of the country.

Sande said the recipients apart from being recognised in their societies for their work, they are also getting a financial boost through the cash prizes in order to go further with their respective projects.

“If you observe closely to the stories by these people they touch in several sectors such as Education, Health, Agriculture just to mention a few. From here we will be going to the last phase where we intend to splash K37.5 million to the top last 5 stories that we received in this campaign. Our judges will go back to review the stories and a vote will be done to find the winner. The first prize will go away with K12 million, the second prize will pocket K10 million, the third prize being K7.5 million while 4th and 5th prize will be K5 million and K3 million respectively”, said Sande.

Malumbo Harawa, a biomedical engineer, thanked Airtel Malawi for the initiative that is rewarding those that are doing great works in their society.

“I am humbled that Airtel Malawi has recognised me as one of the people that is uplifting their societies. This recognition has given me motivation to expand my reach since i targeted only 3 districts in the first place but with the financial support i have received i wish to cover the whole country fixing medical appliances in public hospitals as one way of promoting the health sector.” he said.

Reaching this far, the campaign has awarded K63 million to a total of 16 people out of the K100.5 million allocated for the campaign.
