Leading telecommunications company, Airtel Malawi has on Tuesday officially unveiled its newly refurbished Express Shop at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in Lilongwe, marking the first outlet launched under the company’s nationwide shop refurbishment program.
The program is ained at enhancing customer experience and service delivery.
The KIA shop is the first of 42 Airtel outlets across Malawi earmarked for refurbishment as part of a project that began several months ago.
Speaking during the launch, Airtel Malawi Managing Director Aashish Dutt said the refurbishment program is driven by the need to place customers at the center of Airtel’s service delivery.
“As we continue to expand our services, it is important that our shops are customer-friendly and capable of providing quality service. This refurbishment ensures that customers receive a warm welcome and efficient support. An airport is a gateway for people coming into and leaving the country, so we wanted to ensure that anyone traveling through Malawi can access reliable and welcoming Airtel services,” said Dutt.
Dutt added that the Kamuzu International Airport shop is strategically positioned to serve both local and international travelers, offering quick assistance with connectivity, SIM services, Airtel Money support, and other essential communication needs.
Airport Development Limited (ADL) Chief Executive Officer Victor Lungu welcomed the initiative, describing it as aligned with ADL’s efforts to modernize and improve accessibility at Malawi’s airports.
“We are excited to see Airtel taking the lead in uplifting the face of Kamuzu International Airport. This development supports our vision of creating an airport environment that meets the needs of modern travelers. As ADL, we are moving with time, and this refurbishment raises the bar in terms of service standards and overall atmosphere at the airport,” he said.
The KIA Express Shop launch signals the beginning of a nationwide rollout, with Airtel Malawi expected to unveil additional refurbished outlets in the coming weeks as part of its commitment to delivering improved customer experiences across the country.
