Airtel Malawi Expands Digital Footprint With New Area 12 Shop

Date:

Airtel Malawi has strengthened its commitment to improving customer experience and expanding digital access with the opening of a new state-of-the-art customer service shop in Area 12, Lilongwe.

The new outlet, officially opened on Tuesday, is the company’s second new shop this year following the launch of another branch at Hope Square Complex in Mzuzu in May. The Area 12 shop also forms part of Airtel Malawi’s broader plan to modernize all its 42 customer service shops across the country.

The Area 12 shop is designed as a one-stop service center offering mobile connectivity, high-speed internet, Airtel Money services, smart devices and digital customer support under one roof.

Speaking during the official opening, Airtel Malawi Managing Director Aashish Dutt said the investment reflects the company’s commitment to placing customers at the center of everything it does.

“We keep our customers at the heart of everything we do. We continuously improve our services to ensure we satisfy our customers. We want to increase the number of our shops to make our services more convenient. These shops will provide digital assistance as the world continues to evolve. We now have more than 42 shops countrywide, having recently launched another shop in Mzuzu before opening this one,” said Dutt.

Dutt added that the new facility demonstrates Airtel’s commitment to innovation and providing customers with faster, simpler and more accessible services while enabling more Malawians to participate in the digital economy.

Lilongwe City Deputy Mayor, Councillor Triza Silo, welcomed the investment saying the new shop will improve access to essential digital services for city residents while strengthening service delivery by the local authority.

“This shop is very important because it connects directly with residents in the city. It will also make it easier for customers to pay their city rates through this shop. The investment is a significant contribution to Lilongwe city’s transformation into a smart and digitally connected city, and improved access to digital and financial services supports businesses, entrepreneurs and economic growth,” said Silo.

Beyond improving customer convenience, the facility is also expected to stimulate local economic activity through job creation and increased access to digital financial services for individuals and small businesses.

The opening comes as Airtel Malawi continues to invest in network modernization which includes expanding its 5G footprint and enhancing voice and data services across the country to meet growing demand for fast and reliable connectivity.
