Dzaleka Refugee Camp is once again poised to transform into a global stage of hope, unity and artistic celebration, as the much-anticipated Tumaini Festival returns with it’s eleventh edition.
The Festival organisers, have announced that the 2025 edition will take place from October 30 to November 1,2025.
A communique we have seen, dated June 25, 2025, says the first and only world’s festival held in the Refugee camp, will once again treat fun lovers to extensive artistic meals; including poetry, music , traditional dances and acrobatics, among others.
“This year’s festival will take place from 30th October to 1st November 2025 at Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Dowa , Malawi. Now entering it’s second decade, Tumaini Festival continues to stand as a global symbol of hope , resilience , and cultural celebration. It remains a vibrant platform for intercultural exchange, uniting refugees, Malawians , and international visitors in an inspiring celebration of diversity and shared humanity.
The 2025 edition will once again feature a rich and exclusive three-day program, with live music, traditional dance, theater performances, poetry, art exhibitions, film screenings, and a dedicated children’s playground,” says the communique in part.
In a written response on Wednesday Tumaini Letu Communications officer Triumph Nota, said the event will step up the gear to continue from last year’s fruitful edition.
He said; “Preparations are underway to give people a cream of international and local performances. We are going to heighten last year’s event with music, dances, art exhibition and theater.”
In an telephone interview arts enthusiast Nora Honde described Tumaini Letu as an atypical, all inclusive event that provides a different tone of arts in the country.
“Tumaini Festival is just peculiar. It has its own tone, style and flow. So , fun lovers might be optimistically looking up to this festival as the years draws to it’s closing curtain,” she said.
Founded in 2014 by Tumaini Letu, the festival is a cultural event which uses entertainment, arts and culture to promote creativity and intercultural harmony between refugees, the community and international visitors.
