The first round of Dedza District Football League’s clusters phase is set to be completed early May, the Dedza District Football Association (DDFA) Chairman Fredrick Bizare has confirmed.
Bizare said the St. Louis High School sponsored League which rolled into action in March, was clustered into four zones to ensure timely ending and ease transportation challenges to the clubs.
“The teams are still playing in zones as you know we clusterized them since we have so many participants this year than last season”
“We decided to divide the teams into zones to makesure that the league is finished in time and also to ease transportation challenges that may occur on the course” he said
Commenting on the progress of this year’s League he said: “we have started well, the League is progressing well and there’s stiff competition among the teams compered to last season.
“And again we have witnessed excellent officiation so far and teams are well disciplined. We hope this continues until the end” he added
The sponsors, St. Louis High School hiked this year’s sponsorship at the beginning of the season from K3 million to K4 million.
This also led to the increment of the prize money as the Champion will now pocket K1 million up from last year’s K750,000.
The runners up will get K500,000 while third placed team will receive K250,000.
