Sharda University of India has announced the opening of receiving 2023 scholarship applications for Malawians who wishes to study at the institution.

Sharda Group Assistant Director for International Relations, Sudhir Kumar Pandey, made the announcement on Thursday during a media briefing in Lilongwe.

He said 56 eligible Malawians will be selected for the 2023 scholarship program.

“The door has been opened until end of May for the Malawian students who wants to study at Sharda University to start sending their applications and the selected ones are going to benefit in which they are expected to be paying half of their fees while the other half will be made by themselves” said Pandey

Deputy Director for Higher Education Valentino Zimpita has described the program as an opportunity for Malawian students to enhance their skills by acquiring a touch of global world.

“This scholarship is very significant this time when we are talking about Malawi 2063 where Human Capital Development is one of the critical pillars, we can’t develop human Capital if we don’t have vibrant education system and philosophy of education today is internationalization where students are expected to have a feel of what is it that is done elsewhere so sending students to India is very significant for the nation”

“Secondly this is also important because it is in line with the national education sector investment plan where one of its critical issues is to expand access to higher education so we are just expanding access to higher education” said Zimpita

He further said Ministry of Education will makesure that only eligible candidates are selected to avoid compromising quality.

Since Shadra University entered into a scholarship agreement with the Ministry of Education in 2019, 64 students have already benefited from the program with some still studying.
