First Lady Monica Chakwera says the older generation should impact children with information that will make them strong and have a lasting foundation for future economic survival.
She was speaking in Lilongwe on Friday during the Malawi Assemblies of God, Eagles Cathedral second annual business summit and ‘Waxing Great’ book launch mocktail.
In her remarks Madam Chakwera said the book “Waxing Great-Prospering in Unprosperous times” is the beginning of achieving the well-being of every citizen.
“It is great to see the church recognising the need to work hard in business innovations and the book is a call for action which can be achieved through collective efforts,” she said.
Author of the book, Dr Matilda Matabwa, who is also the Secretary General of Malawi Assemblies of God, and Lead Pastor at Eagles Cathedral, said as a church they are ready to partner with the government in championing mindset change saying much as prayer is done people should also do their part by working hard to attain the much needed economic freedom.
“The book centres on what we can do for our country and not what our country will do for us. The book is challenging us to use our minds effectively,” said Matabwa.
In his remarks Banker, Entrepreneur and Business Coach Benedicto Nkhoma urged Malawians to always think outside the box to achieve ways of making money amidst the struggling economy.
“Let’s build business relationships with people from other countries and emulate financial literacy. We need to cultivate a culture of self sufficiency,” said Nkhoma.
