After playing a game every three days for a month and a half, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will have a “deserved” rest as they will now return to actions later this month.
From October up to now, Bullets have played 15 games, thus a game every three days which has been to the disappointment of the team’s technical panel as they used to lose a player in most of the games.
The people’s team failed to open a four-point gap over their rivals, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers after playing a goalless draw against Blue Eagles on Sunday afternoon.
It was their third successive draw and they have just won one game in their last five games in all competitions, beating only the lower league side, Lipulumundu Stars in the Castel Challenge Cup. They lost to Civil Service United, drew against Wanderers, Red Lions before another disappointing away trip to Nankhaka Ground.
With their four players included in Patrick Mabedi’s Flames travelling to Liberia for their World Cup Qualifiers opening game, Pasuwa will now give his players the time to rest before returning for training after refreshing themselves.
“It’s good that now we will have a break. We will come back when these guys have refreshed themselves,” he said.
Due to congested fixtures, Bullets have had several injuries, missing Patrick Mwangulu, Ephraim Kondowe, Alick Lungu, Precious Sambani, Yamikani Fodya, Rabson Chiyenda, Gomezgan Chirwa, Mike Mkwate, Stanley Billiati at some point this season.
Pasuwa complained about the kind of officiation that they are receiving in their games as there is no player who has been cautioned for fouling his charges.
“We are having so many injuries at a time and you can also see the officiating that we are receiving this time around. I haven’t been one of the people who has been complaining of officiation but at times, all my players got injured this year but no opposition player was cautioned to an extent of breaking legs. But I am seeing or even a card being given to the opposition,” he said.
The draw leaves Bullets short of five points from their remaining three games to retain the Championship this season with Mighty Mukuru Wanderers breathing in their shoulders.
Pasuwa admits that trips to Karonga and Dedza Stadium are very crucial but they will still need to fulfill the fixtures. Silver Strikers will be last visitors.
Mighty Mukuru Wanderers are two points behind the leaders, Bullets with 54 points after playing a game more. They have a home game against Mighty Tigers and away game against Civil Service United who are on a hunt for super league stay.
Blessings Mpokera, Frank Willard, Patrick Mwangulu and Lanjesi Nkhoma are the players that are traveling with Mabedi’s 25-man squad to Liberia.
Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and Silver Strikers are also expected to be exempted from fixtures after contributing at least three players each to the National Team.
Stanley Sanudi, Lawrence Chaziya, Francisco Madinga, Wisdom Mpinganjira and Christopher Kumwembe joined the Camp from Wanderers while Silver have Nickson Mwase, Tatenda M’balaka and Chimwemwe Idana in the squad.
