Football Association of Malawi (FAM) and NBS Bank Thursday unveiled uniforms for two teams that will compete in the 2024 edition of the Charity Shield.
The unveiling ceremony took place at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
FAM Marketing and Broadcasting Manager Tulipo Mwenelupembe expressed his appreciation to NBS Bank for it’s commitment to the competition.
“we are very happy because this is what we agreed with NBS Bank and it just shows the Bank’s commitment to the sponsorship”
“It is also just one way of appreciating the teams by giving them top notch kit so we are very happy” said Mwenelupembe
However, Mwenelupembe has admitted that FAM is well prepared to host the match.
“We are ready and very prepared in all aspects of a competition. We have started selling our tickets on Tuesday and we will finish on Friday”.
He further urged fans to fill up the stadium and support their teams on the other hand helping to raise funds for the charity works.
On his part, NBS Marketing Manager James Chikaonda said the Bank decided to continue supporting the competition for the corporate social responsibility purposes.
He added by revealing that the proceeds for the match will go towards constructing sanitary facilities in some schools in Lilongwe.
“As a caring bank we want to give back to the community and using football as social tool to raise awareness. So let me confirm here that through the proceeds we want to build sanitation facilities in schools around Lilongwe”
Chikaonda also assured people to expect different activities including live performance from an artist and customer engagements on the match day.
Representing FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, Director for the supporters Archibald Kasakura hailed NBS Bank for the jersey and he called upon all Bullets supporters to be part of the cerebration.
For the part of Silver Strikers, Chief Executive Officer Patrick Chimimba said the jersey will spur the Bankers when they face Bullets.
The Charity Shield is the Football Association of Malawi flagship corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program introduced in 2016 with an aim of mobilizing the football fraternity and the public to raise funds and awareness towards a charitable cause of national significance.
