Ministry of Higher Education has introduced an online application through public selection that will help people to have access to college education easily.
Speaking during the press briefing on Thursday at Malawi School of Government in Lilongwe, Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Jessie Kabwila said the process will help to address issues of merit and equity in order to promote objectivity.
Kabwila explained that it will further cut down on the long period of time to apply and also costs incurred during the process of applying manually.
“The paper based selection system takes about six months for the process to be completed, while the online application system will only require a maximum of six to eight weeks from advertisement to results of selection.
“To add on that, the online application offers applicants an opportunity window of time and can be accessed anytime anywhere as long as one has access to the internet 24/7,” Kabwila added.
The minister said the system will eliminate any human error in the data entry and selection as it will further enhance efficiency, effectiveness, credibility and objectivity.
Some of the requirements to be used during the application process includes a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) which will be linked to MANEB for verification and the National Registration Bureau for identification.
