Former Escom United and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers striker, Luke Bruno Milanzi has left Karonga United after just a year at the Club.

Karonga United General Secretary, Ramsey Simwaka has confirmed the development saying the coach requested to do so and they had no reason to stand in his way.

“It was mutual agreement,” he tells the Atlas Malawi. “He [Milanzi ]requested us to terminate the contract and after having discussions, we allowed him to go and look for greener pastures.”

Milanzi joined the Club from Kadona Stars where he was the Head Coach. Rumours indicate that Bruno is heading to Dedza Dynamos to be Assistant Coach to Andrew Bunya who replaced Gilbert Chirwa.

“At the moment we don’t have an assistant coach,” adds Simwaka. “The mandate to name an assistant coach has been left out to the head coach, Trevor Kajawa, he will advise us on what to do.”

The Ingwina who finished 9th in the 2023 TNM Super League are sweating to rebuild the team after a number of their key players left the Club.

Captain, Erik Atsigah, Josiah Duwa, Davie Tobias are some of the players who departed the Club in search of the greener pastures.

Davie Tobias who joined the team from Kadona Stars is training with Bangwe All Stars and he was featured in the team’s 7-2 win over Town Hammers in Nsanje on Tuesday.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that their keeper, Sunganani Mponda is also not with the team this season as he left Karonga in November last year.

Ramsey Simwaka said the player has a running contract with the team but he is not reporting for duty since they started the 2024 football season preparations.

“He [Mponda] is not training with us, we don’t know where he is but we heard that he is training with Tigers. We don’t have evidence of him training with the team, he has a running contract with us which is ending in December this year,” he said.

Karonga roped in relegated Extreme FC Goalkeeper, Macleen Mwale and Civil Service United axed defender, William Mwalwimba and both players signed a two-year contract each.
