Man arrested for possessing counterfeit fertilisers in Kasungu

Police in Kasungu have arrested a 43-year-old man, Famous Jere, for allegedly being found in possession of bags counterfeit fertilizers and seizure of 11 bags has been made pending analysis.

According to Sub Inspector Joseph Kachikho
Public Relations Officer Kasungu Police Station, Jere was arrested on August 16, 2023, after well-wishers tipped police detectives that he was shifting 20 bags of clay soil pallets from his warehouse to an unknown destination.

“Following the tip, police found 11 bags of Super fertilizers suspected to be counterfeit products, one sewing machine, seven brand new empty Super Fertilizer sacks,” he said

Famous Jere, who comes from Chiwato Village in Traditional Authority Kaluluma in Kasungu District, will appear before court soon to answer a charge levelled against him.
