Lilongwe City Council (LCC) has cleared and reopened Central Poultry( 2000) Limited which was temporarily closed on Tuesday for violating waste by-laws.
During a tour in Lilongwe amid continued increase of cholera cases, City Mayor Richard Banda closed the company and Wakawa market due to poor waste management.
LCC Preventive health services Deputy Director Jorlex Kantokoma said they decided to reopen the company after it complied with all recommendations.
Among others, he said the company was illegally running a dump site which it also used to produce manure from chicken waste.
Central Poultry Chief Executive Officer Mike Davis said his company will comply with the by-laws.
Lilongwe has so far registered 1265 cases of cholera and 106 deaths since March last year.
