Former president Dr Joyce Banda has congratulated President-elect Arthur Peter Mutharika following his victory in the September 16 general elections.
She has further wished him well in the “daunting task of addressing a myriad challenges facing the country.”
“Top amongst them is the economic meltdown. The President-elect is assured of my full support as he works in the best interest of Malawians. I would like to, also, commend all Malawians for the peaceful conduct during election campaign, on the voting day and as we waited the processing of the results by the Malawi Electoral Commission.
“As I have already said in my earlier statement, people’s election of a new President is a testament of Malawians’ enduring trust in our democracy,” she said
