President Lazarus Chakwera has challenged his cabinet ministers and heads of departments to deliver or face the chop as he continues to clear the mess in his government.
Chakwera made the remarks when he presided over the official opening of the Henry Henderson School of Excellence of the Blantyre Synod of the CCAP.
Addressing the gathering after officially opening the School, Chakwera challenged his cabinet ministers and heads of departments to emulate what the CCAP Blantyre synod has done by completing construction of the school within its stipulated time frame of one year.
“This facility is proof that there are people in this country who can deliver which means that one of the things that slows down progress in this country is the habit of leaving development projects in the hands of people who give endless excuses for their failure to produce quality and timely results,” said Chakwera.
The Malawi leader then warned that he will no longer take excuses from his cabinet ministers who fail to deliver saying those that fail to deliver will be relieved of their duties to pave way for fresh blood.
“The time for excuses has passed. Those who do not deliver must get out of the way and make room for those who do, because rebuilding Malawi is a matter of urgency, and we need doers and fixers not complainers,” said the Malawi leader.
Chakwera has since challenged his ministers that heading into 2023 he wants to see results and not mere talk.
“As we go into 2023, my administration will entertain no distractions, no excuses, no political games, and no meetings created for people who just want to hear themselves talk and show off their education and expertise in saying everything and accomplishing nothing,” said Chakwera.
