By Patrick Ng’ambi:

TNM Super League outfit, Ekwendeni Hammers Football Club (FC) has parted ways with its Head Coach, Etson Kadenge Mwafulirwa following poor performance displayed by the side towards the end of TNM Super League’s first round and the start of the second round.

In an interview on Tuesday, Kadenge confirmed about the development saying he has been sacked due to the poor performance of the team.

“I am thankful to the club for entrusting me with the task of managing it, it is sad that results have not been good in the recent times but I have made my effort by roping in new strikers from southern region and I believe the team will not be relegated,” he said.

The Coach saluted the team’s executive committee for giving him the privilege to manage the club and wished them well in their next games.”About my way forward, life has to go on and I want to salute the executive of Hammers for giving me a chance to work with them,” Kadenge said.

After disclosing the news on the teams Facebook page, several fans expressed their disappointment towards the matter saying Kadenge was the best ever coach for the club,

Benson K. Longwe wrote, “Kadenge is a good coach, players themselves are a problem, they do not offer good play nowadays.”

General Secretary for Ekwendeni Hammers, Benjamin Thole confirmed the development although he was reluctant to comment on whether having Kadenge sacked was the best solution for the team get back to its winning ways.

Kadenge has been in charge of the team for two years and reached the finals of FDH Bank Cup in 2021 where the team lost to Silver Strikers FC at Bingu National Stadium.

The Club has announced that Kadenge will be replaced by former coach for Mzuni FC and Rumphi United, Gilbert Chirwa.

Chirwa’s tactics will come to the test this coming Friday at Mzuzu Stadium when the team which is on position 14 with 14 points from 18 games will be hosting Silver Strikers in the 2022 TNM Super League.
