President of the United Democratic Front (UDF), Atupele Muluzi, has described the recent increase in fuel prices in Malawi as a clear indication of the government’s failure to effectively manage the country’s affairs.
In a statement released today, Muluzi noted that global fuel prices have not exceeded K2,500 per litre, which contrasts sharply with the significant price increases being experienced locally.
He added that the continued rise in fuel prices demonstrates a lack of government responsiveness to the economic hardships faced by citizens.
Muluzi emphasized that Malawians expect a government that actively seeks solutions to the challenges affecting them, rather than excuses.
He has therefore called on the government to implement measures aimed at stabilizing fuel prices in the country.
