Former First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and ex-Member of Parliament for Kasungu East, Madalitso Kazombo, has died.
Speaker of Parliament Sameer Gaffar Suleman announced in a statement issued on Thursday that Kazombo passed on.
“It is with deep sorrow that I announce the passing of Honourable Madalitso Kazombo, former First Deputy Speaker of Parliament (2019 to 2025) and former Member of Parliament for Kasungu East, who passed on today, Thursday, 8th January, 2026,” reads the statement.
Suleman said details of the funeral programme will be communicated in due course.
On behalf of Members of Parliament and Parliament staff, the Speaker conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and all those affected by the loss.
“May his soul rest in peace,” reads the statement.
Kazombo served as First Deputy Speaker of Parliament from 2019 to 2025 and previously represented Kasungu East Constituency in the National Assembly.
