The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has organized Women’s Football Capacity Building Workshop aimed at addressing at strengthening the development of women’s Football in the country.
The three-day FIFA-Funded event, which commenced today at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe, is being attended by Women’s football administrators from the National Women’s Football Association, Regional Women’s Football Committee members and Associations, Club.
FAM President Fleetwood Haiya said after FIFA launched the under 16 and under 14 leagues last year in Lilongwe, Blantyre and Mzuzu; the FA noted some managerial challenges from the regions and districts hence applying to FIFA for the program to address such gaps.
Haiya explained that the workshop is much beneficial in equipping Women’s Football administrators with necessary skills and knowledge run the sport.
Haiya said “By equipping administrators with the necessary skills and knowledge, we strive to enhance the efficiency and safety of our leagues. Safety and efficiency are not mere aspirations but fundamental prerequisites for creating an environment where our players can flourish and excel”.
On her part, National Women’s Football Association president, Adelaide Migogo said she expects great improvements in managing the game after the workshop.
“This initiative started last year where administrators from Lilongwe, Blantyre and Mzuzu were trained, representing all the three regions but now with the addition of other three districts, Zomba, Kasungu and Karonga I expect an improvement administratively,” said Migogo
The training is being facilitated by the FIFA expert, Doreen Nwabwire and Thuba Sibanda from Zimbabwe.
