The Area 30 based Cops, Blue Eagles are in an extreme test as they travel to face relegated Extreme Football Club at the Civo Stadium in their hunt for the super league survival.

The Mchinji based side confirmed their departure from the elite league after a 2-1 defeat to their fellow relegation threatened Red Lions and they will have nothing to lose in this match.

Eliya Kananji’s Eagles are 10th on the table but they are not safe from relegation chop with 31 points from 26 matches.

The two sides faced off in midweek in the Castel Challenge Cup and the blue-attired side bagged a narrow 1-0 win at Dedza Stadium.

Christopher Sibande, Assistant Coach for Blue Eagles anticipates a tough encounter after playing them just days ago.

“We played them in the Castel Challenge Cup and we expect a tough game. They have seen how we are playing and we have seen how they are playing as well.

“We know where we are and we know how important the game is. This is one of the important games and we need to win,” said Sibande.

Eagles have won three of their last five games beating Leyman Panthers, Moyale Barracks and Extreme FC and they lost to Dedza Dynamos and drew against Chitipa United.

Assistant Coach for Extreme FC, Elvis Kafoteka said his team will go with full force against Eagles to avenge their Castel Challenge Cup defeat that led to their early exit in the tournament.

“Blue Eagles is a good side, we faced them in the Castel Challenge Cup where we gave them problems. They struggled to beat us but they knocked us so we will go for revenge in the match. We want to win the remaining games so that we should go with honour,” Kafoteka told the Club’s Media.

Extreme FC are the second team that have conceded more goals (37) than Red Lions (42) in the elite league and they have fewer wins (4). They stunned Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, Bangwe All Stars, Red Lions among others.

The Mchinji based side became the first team to be relegated from the league last week as they have 18 points from 27 games on position 16 on the table.
