The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has shown allegiance to former Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) chairperson Jane Ansah who lost the disputed primary elections for Ntcheu North West constituency to Everton Chimulirenji.
Chimulirenji, running mate to Peter Mutharika in the 2019 general elections, defeated Ansah in the primaries conducted on April 12, 2025.
However, the party ordered another primary election after Ansah complained about several elections, which prompted Chimulirenji to obtain a court injunction against the move.
Despite the issue being unresolved, the party is parading Ansah in its rallies conducted in the district.
During a rally at Bwanje on Saturday, DPP director of youth Norman Chisale slammed those he said are working against Ansah and himself.
“Ine ndi a Jane Ansah amatida kwambiri koma tilimba,” said Chisale.
Speaking at the same rally, Ansah urged people to vote for Mutharika, saying he has the solutions to the country’s economic problems.
