CRFA warns teams against absconding games

The Central Region Football Association (CRFA) has condemned some teams for their failure to fulfill their Chipiku Premier Division fixtures.

CRFA General Secretary, Antonio Manda was not happy for Mangoni Warriors’ failure to travel to Nankhaka Stadium in Lilongwe where they were expected to face Silver Strikers Reserve.

Following the development, Silver Strikers Reserve has been awarded three points and two points and are now tied with second placed Namitete Zitha FC on 37 points but Reserves are behind due to inferior goal difference.

Apart from Silver Strikers Reserve, another team that were awarded points are Airborne Rangers due to Kamuzu Barracks Reserve’s late arrival at Fikiza Ground.

Airborne have maintained fourth positions with 29 points from 16 games.

In an interview, Antonio Manda condemned such acts saying it’s against their desire to produce a strong team for Super League

“We didn’t expect teams failing to honor fixtures at this time, we are at a very crucial stage of our League and what we anticipate from our teams is that they have to be traveling to their respective match venues to play games because in that way we will be able to cook and prepare a team that will stand the heat in the Super League”

“We have awarded points to Silver Strikers Reserve because that’s what the law is saying, Mangoni Warriors have failed to make it and we gave points to Silver Strikers Reserve and at the same time Kamuzu Barracks Reserve did not arrive in time at Fikiza Ground we could not do otherwise as well because the other team was waiting and the referees were there waiting up until they didn’t see the team and the team arrived very late while the other team had already left so we could not do otherwise but doke the points and give it to Airborne Rangers”

“It’s very sad development because this is not what we anticipate from our teams. Let me be very clear that our teams must always be responsible when handling these fixtures because once the fixture has been released we expect these teams to play the games so that we should be able to cook and prepare a strong team that’ll represent us well in Super League” said Manda

Antonio Manda further said they will summon Mangoni Warriors and Kamuzu Barracks Reserve for shunning their games.

However Manda has warned all teams to expect stiff if commits same offense.

“Rules are very clear if you shun or you abscond your games the law will catch up with you and at the same time we are encouraging each and every team that is taking part in this round to makesure that games are played on the ground not that we have to be awarding points from the tables, we are very serious and we want teams to sweat for three points”

The only game which has been played today is between Ngolowindo FC and Luanar FC which ended 1-0 in favor of Ngolowindo FC.

With lest than five games to finish the season, Kawinga FC are leading the standings with 38 points while Namitete Zitha and Silver Strikers Reserve who are tied on 37 points comes second and third respectively.
