President Lazarus Chakwera has urged Malawians to peacefully coexist with people from other countries residing in Malawi.
Chakwera was speaking Friday at Katoto Roundabout in Mzuzu on his arrival in the northern region where is expected to attend Gonapamuhanya Cultural Festival, slated for Saturday, November 26, in Rumphi.
“The world is a global village. As Malawians we should always love and respect foreigners who are in our country because it is only through unity when we can push forward and develop each other since,” said Chakwera.
He said the nation should be united as it only through unity and peaceful coexistence that the country can register development.
Chakwera also advised parents and guardians against promoting child marriages in order for the children to grow into responsible citizens, thereby contributing to the achievement of Malawi 2063.
The President was welcomed by, among others, Mayor of Mzuzu City Council, Gift Desire Nyirenda, Speaker of Parliament, Catherine Gotani Hara who is Member of Parliament for Mzimba East and other party officials.
