Israel’s Ambassador-designate to Malawi, Gideon Behar, says authorities are taking steps to protect Malawians and other foreign nationals in Israel amid the Iran war.
Speaking virtually to Malawian press from Nairobi, Behar said Israeli authorities are closely monitoring the situation and guiding foreign nationals in the country.
He said Israel will continue strengthening cooperation with Malawi in key sectors such as agriculture and medicine despite the conflict.
Behar also highlighted a one-year agricultural scholarship programme in Israel for young Malawians, combining classroom study with practical farm training, with about 100 places for Malawi students.
The programme aims to equip participants with modern farming skills to professionalise Malawi’s agriculture, and Behar said he will soon present his diplomatic credentials to Malawian authorities.
