Political analyst Chimwemwe Tsitsi has described Dalitso Kabambe’s joining of the opposition United Transformation Movement (UTM) as ‘a gain’ to the party.
Kabambe dumped Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) last week before yesterday’s announcement that he has joined UTM yesterday.
In reaction to the move, political analyst Chimwemwe Tsitsi believes the move is a loss to DPP and a huge benefit to UTM.
“DPP having lost one of its presidential aspirants and a prominent member, I think it is bound to lose, basically because politics is the game of numbers, UTM has gained something,” said Tsitsi.
However, Tsitsi believes Kabambe’s impact to the UTM family will depend on how he will be welcomed by all members of the party.
Since the death of UTM president Saulos Chilima last month, there has been leadership crisis in the party with his vice, Michael Usi taking over the mantle.
Currently, there are rival camps between cabinet ministers from UTM led by Usi and another side led by Secretary General, Patricia Kaliati who announced their quitting from Tonse Alliance.
