As the road to September general elections heats up, four political parties have announced the formation of a political and electoral alliance.
In a very brief statement, the four, Freedom Party, Peoples Party, Peoples Development Party and Malawi Forum for Unity and Development (MAFUNDE) said they have agreed to work together in the best interest of Malawians.
“Today the 8th of April, 2025, the Presidents of four Political Parties namely, Freedom Party, Peoples Party, Peoples Development Party and Malawi Forum for Unity and Development (MAFUNDE) held an initial meeting where they agreed to establish a framework of a political and electoral alliance between themselves and other partners, and announce their intention to jointly work together in the best interests of Malawi and its people effective immediately.
“The general public will be updated at every step on the development of this alliance,” reads the statement signed by Clara Bandawe secretary general of FP, Simeon Fortune Phiri secretary general of PDP, Ben Chakhame who is Secretary General for PP and MAFUNDE secretary general Salim Karim
